Winter at last!

The ski resort operators in Europe have had to wait a long time for the cold this year. There was a brief cold spell in October but then the inversion in November was a real challenge for the snow-making systems all over Europe. Again this week the snow conditions have been anything but optimum. However, thanks to the strength of the TechnoAlpin snow guns in borderline temperatures, many ski resorts were finally able to commence snow-making operations.

Lift assembly on PE pit

Perfection down to the very last detail - this is the mission statement of TechnoAlpin. Even for the pits, therefore, the company wanted to provide a solution which sets new standards. This wish was granted with the launch of the PE pit. The PE pit was installed in bulk for the first time in summer 2010 using the lightweight mode of construction. Another application has now been added to the PE pit in response to the growing demand.

Gigantic reservoir in Canada

Large-scale measures were taken in Mount St. Louis Moonstone back in the 1980s in a bid to increase the appeal of the Canadian ski resort. Hard core and rubble from the surrounding area were used to raise the hill and thus extend the slopes. The end result was a gain in height of 60 meters. To this day the managers of the family-run ski resort have not lost their innovative spirit. Every year they invest in improving the service.

The long wait on Saturday finally bore fruit - the Ski World Cup is back after the summer break. Traditionally, the season starts at the Rettenbachferner in Sölden (AUT). And this year again, the TechnoAlpin snow guns on the edges of the slopes ensured ideal conditions.

Overground valve block - a success story

The Research & Development Department at TechnoAlpin has been in existence since the company was first set up and now has 14 people. Every year over one million euro is invested in the development of new products. This has spawned a whole host of innovations but the overground valve block is worthy of particular attention. It has been in use for three years now. The overground valve block was launched in 2008 as an alternative to the underground valve block which had been used until then. It has since been installed in all the different designs of lances - those with central compressed air supply and those with autonomous compressor, automatic and manual versions alike. It can be used with any length of lance tube and lance head. The overground valve block has been exceedingly well received on the market. To date some 2,350 units have been installed in systems all over the world. Their success is hardly surprising - seeing as they offer a whole host of advantages over other valve blocks.

T40 and V3 put on an impressive performance in the southern hemisphere

The newest additions to the TechnoAlpin range of snow guns made their debut in Europe last winter. And now the new T40 fan gun and the V3 snow lance have also had a chance to prove themselves in the southern hemisphere. The first samples of the two snow guns arrived in Australia and New Zealand in May and the conditions could not have been more different. While Australia was enjoying one of the earliest starts to the season ever, the ski resorts in New Zealand had to keep postponing their opening. Both countries did have one thing in common, however, in that snow was produced in borderline temperatures in each case. The T40 and the V3 passed the endurance test with flying colors.

Skilift Pany to invest in guaranteed snow

Last year, some of the Swiss ski resorts waited in vain for snow to fall. Only ski resorts with snow-making systems were able to guarantee staying open for business all winter. So things are busy again this year with systems being installed all over Switzerland. “TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG has some particularly exciting assignments again this year”, said Remo Bulgheroni, manager of TechnoAlpin Switzerland, “and we are especially proud of the breadth of the projects - ranging from large players in the season ticket network right through to the small family ski resort”.

Cartridges of the water filter in wedge wire

Perfection in the smallest details - is TechnoAlpin's claim. This obviously applies also for the cartridges of the water filter which are mounted in the snow guns. The cartridge of the water filter is also used in the T40 in steel with nickel chrome of the "wedge wire" type confirmed in the meantime. But what does the expression "wedge wire" mean?

The polyethylene shelter wins unanimous approval

The fact that all TechnoAlpin tapping stations are the result of extensive analysis is clearly seen once again with the polyethylene shelter. Its reduced weight, suitability for air transportation, stability, ease of assembly, reduced installation times and operational simplicity are the main advantages.

SNOW MADE BY …

Claudia Mannheim and Sabine Vieweg

… two sisters who run the family ski resort of Beuerberg (GER) together with their parents.

Every year the Mannheim family would play the same waiting game – waiting for the snow. They were never really certain whether it would be possible to start operating the ski lift in Beuerberg. In 2008 the family grew tired of waiting and bought a mobile snow gun from TechnoAlpin. Since then the two sisters, Claudia and Sabine, have been making sure that there is snow in Beuerberg.
